Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic technologist, experienced in Windows-based platforms and Servers to work within a newly created security and surveillance operations unit. The position will be responsible for the units test environment (lab) which will serve to research and explore new technologies and to ensure quality of all supported applications. An ideal candidate would have strong logic and problem solving skills, experience and knowledge of standard change management principles and excellent communication skills with the ability to elicit cooperation from both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This position will play a key role in ensuring the availability of managed systems is met and improved upon.

Key Activities Include:

Responsible for conducting application software and hardware testing in security and surveillance operations support lab. This includes creating test scope, design, conducting the tests, documentation, analysis, and communication of findings. Prepares documentation of findings from Lab results to assist in providing ongoing communication and information to management regarding the effectiveness, efficiencies, and overall quality of the unit†s support products †including opportunities for improvement. Works closely with System groups to improve upon current service offering.

Works in coordination with security and surveillance operations support staff to:

Ensure continuity of testing process and critical testing strategies

Develop vision and definition of system and test requirements, including Performance, Scalability, Security, and System test and release documentation requirements.

Defines and develops testing criteria, assists in establishing testing environment, participates in testing, identifies discrepancies, reports and resolves issues.

Verify that testing of proposed application code is tested in environment and meets requirements prior to deployment.

Verify that testing of proposed new application hardware is tested in environment and meets requirements prior to deployment.

Develops, implements, and enhances the organizations monitoring program to provide an early warning of future problem areas. Identifies, analyzes and prepares risk mitigation tactics.

Oversees opportunities to integrate processes with vendor software development to increase efficiency, reduce potential incidents and decrease costs.

Defines, support, measures/tracks and reports success metrics and monitors change progress. Ensures user documentation, training, etc. are accurate and complete.

Responsible for researching new technologies, making recommendations, testing in the Lab, and where appropriate working with organizations to implement solutions across the enterprise.

Desired Skills & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, and/or technical certification preferred in combination with a minimum of three to five years experience in information systems.

Experience in Windows based platforms and server administration.

Experience conducting applications software and hardware testing.

Experience and an interest in researching emerging technologies, identifying their application within our current environment and defining processes for introduction and removal of new and retiring technologies.

The ability to identify and implement ways to monitor the effectiveness of the architecture and to ensure compliance with architectural standards.

Knowledge and proficiency in creating and maintaining enterprise-wide technology business solutions.

Demonstrate the ability to identify and promote the definition and reuse of common business and technology processes and practices.

Demonstrate ability to define and promote business, technical and architectural models for common processes and applications such as Client Server architectures, global-class architectures and Web architectures.

Be able to define the interfaces and relationships between inconsistent architectures such as packages and existing in-house/external applications.

Ability to analyze complex business information, draw conclusions supported by appropriate analyses and effectively communicate analyses to technical and non-technical parties.
