Windows PC Software Engineer Job

WINDOWS PC SOFTWARE ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in BILLERICA, MA

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Developing and modifying applications for Windows OS
- Developing with Visual Basic 6 and third part controls
- Developing and modifying Active X Controls

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Enhance an existing PC based instrument interface application that is developed in Visual Basic 6.
- Add new features to align with new product capability and address outstanding defects.
- Require generation of coding specifications based on requirements definitions as well as generated test plans.
- Will ramp up quickly on a Legacy code base.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Extensive experience developing/modifying applications for Windows OS (XP, 7, Server)
- Extensive experience developing with Visual Basic 6 and Third Party controls
- Extensive experience developing/modifying Active X controls (OCX and DLL)
- Experience with PC communication (serial, Ethernet, IrDA, USB)
- Experience developing application to interface to measurement equipment
- Experience interfacing to MS Office applications (Excel, Word)
- Ability to convert product requirements to coding specification
- Ability to develop test cases
- Experience with creating installers for multiple environments including third party redistributables
- Familiarity with binary/ASCII conversion
- Familiarity with XML
- Proficient in current version control tools and processes
- Ability to work on an existing code base and ramp up quickly

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience developing VC++/C#/.NET controls
