Windows Desktop Engineer

Projektbeschreibung
Our client, a world financial Services provider are seeking a Windows Desktop Engineer with the skills to support a Windows application migration to App-V.
They have a high volume of project tasks to migrate Windows 7 client applications to App-V and/or investigate alternative methods to deliver the applications to our Virtual Workplace (VDI).
The candidate engineer needs a mix of project and engineering skills.
MAIN TASKS/ACTIVITIES:
- They are moving from physical installs to App-V virtualised delivery for all platforms. The engineer will support an external service provider in certifying Windows desktop applications.
- The majority of the standard engineering occurs offshore meaning the consultant will be working with exceptional items that don't fit the standard model, eg apps containing drivers.
- Work with Application Owners to deliver a solution for applications that are currently incompatible with the target platform.
- Investigate failed applications to understand and resolve root cause of problems.
- Support Discovery of applications.
- Provide 3rd line support for App-V application/user issues.
- Contribute to service life cycle optimisations from technical and process viewpoints.
- Create and maintain documentation (wiki) to share knowledge.
- Perform Governance activity around stalled software requests and ensure applications are progressed through our workflow.
- Building and sustaining the packaging/sequencing infrastructure.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years desktop engineering or packaging experience in a large environment with at least 1000 users, ideally in a global financial services environment.
- Thorough understanding of the Windows 7 x64 client in a locked down enterprise environment and management methods.
- Minimum 2 years experience in packaging and or App-V sequencing.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Self-starter personality with a proactive approach to work without requiring a daily task list
- Experience with SCCM
- Experience with delivering desktop applications for Citrix XenApp or Citrix XenDesktop is desirable
- Experience with Scripting, AppSense, PowerShell, strong Excel reporting, offshore teams, outsourced service providers is welcome.
- Any exposure to Service Now ITSM is a bonus.
