Windows and Linux Server Support Technician

Our client is the leading computer components company seeking a Server Tech to provide system hardware and software upgrades, system repair, hardware/software upkeep, system assembly, and system image creation for non-standard desktop and laptop hardware located in the group and within the labs running any OS. OS includes WIN95, WIN98, Win NT, Windows 2000, WXP, Vista and Linux/Unix. Support will be provided as dedicated models with 40hrs a week during standard business hours.

OVERVIEW:

- Set up and utilize SQL and administration responsibilities on Servers.
- Install and utilize Cygwin for connections between Linux systems and Servers.
- Responsible for maintaining Servers and ensuring connectivity, setting up multiple clients that connect to one server in temporary lab projects and any custom OS or software support needed in the Lab environment.
- Understand LNSP under EC written guidelines and process.

TASKS:

- Assemble, build, and configure test machines for project testing and demos
- Assemble, Build and configure Servers for project testing and keeping license Servers running
- Maintain lab hardware (desktops, notebooks, Servers, test rigs, test equipment, and peripherals)
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to maintain productivity
- Locate, test, and configure hardware for demo/test
- Perform ongoing hardware reengineering to accomplish testing
- Assist with problem solutions for development tools
- Provide local networking support for lab equipment
- Assist with installation, configuration, and registration of wireless test devices
- Assure IT compliance for all non-IT network connected hardware
- Primary contact for hardware/software questions

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS 10 YEAR CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK, DRUG SCREEN. MUST BE CAPABLE OF LIFTING UP TO 70LBS.
