Welding Engineer

Job Overview

I am currently working on behalf of a large client of mine who are looking for a Welding engineer. The range of services includes manufacturer and product approvals, Rule development, specialist technical advice, technical training plus laboratory testing and investigations. A welding engineer is required as an integral part of delivering the above services and ensure that manufacturers, shipyards and suppliers comply with Classification Rules, procedures and industry codes or standards. Development and delivery of specialist training to surveyors and clients is a key element of the role, as is the development of Rules, procedures and guidance for the industry.

Job Responsibilities

As a Welding Engineer you will be responsible for providing sound technical advice and support on welding or manufacturing and inspection issues. The role requires an individual with a practical and flexible approach and the ability to project manage various tasks in accordance with LR procedures.

Job Requirements

A degree or equivalent in materials or metallurgy or welding engineer qualifications which supporting your practical experience.

Experience in welding fabrication in the marine or oil and gas industries with a broad knowledge of the industry requirements and responsibilities in welding quality control and inspection.

Practical expertise in welding technology and development of welding procedures, qualifications and providing solutions to materials or welding related problems.

Membership of an appropriate professional institution. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is preferred but not essential.

Excellent team working and organisational skills.

Interpersonal skills including communication in English at all levels
