Weights Engineer

Purpose of role:
To undertake a defined range of weight control activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements, supplying advice and support to operations and other functions and/or to organise and co-ordinate aspects of weight control activity ensuring defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and service requirements.

Key Technical Skills
Possesses in-depth knowledge of all aspects within weight control.
Able to perform robust analysis using recognised draughting and analytical tools and to make sound judgements based on experience.
Has sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design, basic Naval Architecture and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions
Provide technical support and troubleshooting responses in assigned areas to operational units or other activities.

Major Tasks and Activities:

Support developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
Produce and develop weight information in line with specifications and all quality, cost, schedule and technical requirements,
Carry out weight control appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
Carry out investigations into operational problems, develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of the Production Design team

To act as focal point for weight control specific tasks ensuring best practices are adopted by providing expertise of own discipline to teams
Support the development of best practice to increase the capability, performance of tools and processes
