Websphere Technical Architect

OUR CLIENT, A LEADING INTERNATIONAL IT SERVICES PROVIDER IS LOOKING FOR A WEBSPHERE TECHNICAL ARCHITECT TO WORK ON A 5 MONTHS CONTRACT BASED IN WINNERSH.

This is a project based role to work within the transition team to provide expert-level technical knowledge of the WebSphere products and their use in production systems, and to create a migration design for Business Integration Gateway, which will include a thorough analysis of the current solution and a detailed technical implementation plan for the migration of BIG.

The candidate will work as an integral part of the Client transition team and will also work closely with technical specialists, the incumbent supplier's technical experts and experts from other suppliers.

Responsibilities to include:

- Working to analyse the operation of the current BIG solution, its interaction with the Client's application estate and the current hosting platform.
- Work with the infrastructure design team to put in place an appropriate design for the future hosting and operations model for the BIG platform after transition into Client's data centres.
- Fully document the future mode of operation (FMO) of BIG in the solution.
- Produce a detailed technical approach and plan for the migration of BIG with minimal disruption and guaranteed zero transaction loss.
- Assist other members of the transition team in assessing the impact of migrating applications that rely on BIG for inter-application communication or for interfaces to internal/external customers.

Requirements:

- Expert-level knowledge of WebSphere MQ, ESB, XB60 (or equivalent) appliances and related products
- Proven experience of migrating large WebSphere installations and their dependent applications
- Experience of large scale infrastructure transition, migration and transformation projects.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Customer and delivery focused.
- Good knowledge of Data Center Functions, Design and Operations (ie Production operations, Server, Storage, Network, Data Base Mgt., Systems Mgt, DR/Business recovery practices etc.).
- Good knowledge server, storage, and network technologies with a special focus on IBM AIX/P-Series and related technologies.
- Broad knowledge of applications and integration methods with specific focus on IBM WebSphere technologies and patterns.

Desirable Skills Required:

- Server Platform Technologies ( Unix/Wintel ).
- Storage Platform Technologies (SAN/NAS) including Hardware & Software (EMC/NetApp/Sun/IBM/HP etc.).
- Data Center/Server Operational Components (Monitoring, Management, etc.).
- Understanding of the interactions between applications, Middleware and databases (including Oracle and SQL Server)
- Data Center/Server Consolidation/Migration Project Experience
- Understanding of Network design and implementation.
