Position: WebSphere Commerce Consultant
Location: Based Leeds with some home working
Salary: c£500 per day
Contract Duration: Minimum 3 months, possibility of an extension

ROLE:
The WebSphere Commerce Consultant will provide an overview of standard Commerce features out of the box - this is to provide an understanding of the baseline for the subsequent external development.

The contractor will need to review the Salmon implementation and documentation to see where any differences from the baseline product are and to document and present this in summary form. This will need to be aligned with the product areas that have been defined.

The WebSphere Commerce Consultant will also support elaboration activities by working with the elaboration teams to highlight potential issues with features and to recommend best approaches/design. There would then be a handover period to the development and support teams globally. Ideally, this would be through recorded webex sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide the team with knowledge transfer in the following areas:
a) Best practice on development on Commerce. This will include the structure of a typical feature, understanding of the UI model, etc.
b) Best practice for extending existing features at the application and database level. Includes turning capabilities on and off through mechanisms such as xcomreg.
c) Understanding of the various standard data load processes.
d) Highlight any standard pitfalls/areas to be aware of in day to day development. Any pain points that are highlighted should include remedies/best practice to avoid/mitigate these.
e) Understand the differences between Commerce 6 and 7. Where these are significant, eg BODS support, highlight the pros and cons.
f) Highlight areas of understanding required for development/support, eg. log file locations, troubleshooting guidance, common queries for locating data.
g) Understanding of the database schema from a logical perspective and how this maps to business concepts such as user, product, pricing etc.
h) Understand the process for feature pack upgrades and potential issues.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Must have knowledge of WebsShere Commerce 7
b) Understand the differences between Commerce 6 and 7.
c) Knowledge of Java/J2EE technologies.
