Websphere Application Server Administrator

WEBSPHERE APPLICATION SERVER ADMINISTRATOR required for long term contract based in Zurich. You will be responsible for administering, maintaining, enhancing and implementing system changes from small components, to entire complex systems infrastructure, adhering to the established industry standards monitoring and controlling of the performance and status of the infrastructure and the physical computer equipment on which systems and applications. Ensure that the operation of the infrastructure is in accordance with established procedures and practices and take action if the infrastructure availability, integrity or performance is compromised. You will work closely with technical teams in the support and enhancement of the core infrastructure to ensure better reliability and resilience, whilst at the same time making the environment more cost-effective and suggest recommendations about enhancements to the existing infrastructure.

DELIVERABLES:

- Build, decommissioning and support of Web & J2EE application environments
- Migration of Web & J2EE application into a new shared environment
- Analyse and resolve infrastructure related application incidents
- Provide On-Call/weekend support approximately once per quarter

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

- Several years experience in WebSphere Application Server administration in a demanding technical
- Environment, preferably in the financial industry
- Strong knowledge of IHS, Apache, Tomcat (ideally with migration experience)
- Excellent UNIX Administration knowledge (Solaris & RedHat are advantageous)
- A good understanding of aspects of connectivity using web services or messaging
- Experience with load and performance aspects of JEE applications and infrastructure
- Incident and problem management using various tools
- Experience with Performance Monitoring applications (eg Wily/CA Introscope)
- Experience with coordination and delivery management in collaboration with offshore teams
- Z/OS and EXADATA would be an advantage
- Strong client focus and pragmatic working approach
- Excellent communication skills in English, German would be an advantage

As this is a long term contract, preference will be given to local, Swiss based candidates. It will not suit those planning to commute weekly.
