Web Streaming Specialist/Technical Support Specialist

For our client, global IT provider, we are looking for WEB STREAMING SPECIALIST/TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST to work on 7 MONTHS INITIAL CONTRACT in MAIDENHEAD to provide services for one of the largest broadcast media company in the UK.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- to provide BAU support on web streaming for the media industry customer
- delivering a specialist application/specialist appliance-based managed service for the customer
- supporting signal acquisition equipment, encoding appliances/applications, streaming media delivery solutions and liaising with third-party Content Delivery Network partners
- fault-finding, trouble-shooting and diagnosing
- the contractor is expected to work shifts (Mon - Fri 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm) and will provide out of hours/on call support (Mon - Fri 6pm-8pm and 24hrs on weekends - once every 3 weeks)

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:

- previous experience in technical support role
- a good understanding of Linux/UNIX (to at least command-line end-user level) and Windows operating systems (to at least end-user level)
- broad understanding of Internet media streaming and broadcasting
- understanding of audio/video signals
- fault-finding, trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills
- previous experience in managed service environment would be an asset
- clear, concise English language skills
- prepare to work late evenings and weekends (on call)

DESIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

- Microsoft Windows
- Adobe FMS
- Microsoft Windows Media
- demonstrable past working relationships with CDN providers (Akamai, Limelight, etc.)
- signal acquisition (Digital Satellite, DAB/FM, Intraplex/NetXpress audio-over-IP codecs, ISDN G.722)
- SDI video and XLR/AES audio routing systems
- Codecs (AAC, MP3, WMA, MP4, On2VP6 etc.)
- experience with hardware/appliance-based encoding (Digital Rapids, Cisco/Inlet, Viewcast)
