Web Ops/Web Applications support contractor - Reading Our client has a number of Web Ops opportunities, potentially 3 roles.

Web Ops Web Operations required to support a digital service project for a Central Government organisation based in London.

This role is for a hands on web ops specialist working as part of the development team, with a focus on running the production systems and building software that is easy to operate, scale and secure. Candidates must have experience configuring web and application Servers and possess an understanding of Linux, previous experience supporting a large production platform, operational management of Linux Servers delivering a complex web application stack, building and configuring new server platforms and the automated tooling to do so and supporting development teams with configuring applications for deployment.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in an out of hours on-call rota and possess the following skills.

-Understanding of common web application architectures
-Experience configuring and managing Linux Servers
-Scripting or basic programming skills
-Familiarity with network protocols - TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc.
-Deploying, configuring and managing machines in a Cloud environment
-Configuration management experience including use of tools such as; Git, GitLab, Hubflow
-Understanding of application deployment strategies and continuous integration. Use of tooling such as TeamCity, SBT, Sonatype, Puppet, Hiera, RedHat package manager etc.
-Familiarity with automated test tools such as; JUnit, Jasmine, Sinon.js, SauceLabs, Burpsuite pro, Karma etc.

One the opportunities is slightly more senior and requires both the technical skill and the ability to design and lead the team.
