Web Experience Developer

The Web Experience Developer will be in the front line of creating state-of-the-art web experiences and applications to support company strategy. The position will be a hands-on role that will lead user experience development efforts within a core team of talented Designers and Developers. The position will translate overarching design guidelines into consistent and effective user experiences while collaborating frequently with the Designers and Developers. Responsibilities include identifying requirements, designing and prototyping UX, developing and maintaining UX specifications and guidelines, and working closely with programmers and application developers. Candidate must be fluent in writing cross-browser compliant XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and DHTML. Candidate should have thorough understanding of Rich Internet Applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Key deliverables include Presentation Layer web page code that potentially utilizes HTML, CSS, XHTML, DHTML, JavaScript, jQuery, JSTL, XML/XSLT, AJAX and/or other languages.
- Deliver business requirements, functional requirements, stakeholder analysis, and business process analysis.
- Propose and develop new experience features.
- Perform all functions of development, documentation, testing, maintenance, and support for all relevant web projects.
- Rapidly turn conceptual and graphical mock-ups into fully-functional prototypes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in design philosophy and new tools and technologies.
- Conceive and execute designs that support marketing strategies and objectives.
- Communicate your vision and be able to defend your user experiences - you should have a good reason why you developed in a specific technology and layout in a particular way, and not be hesitant to express your opinion, preference or recommendation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Four year degree in Business, Computer Science, Technology, Marketing, Administration, Multi Media/Web Design or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 5 years of industry experience developing user experiences for web and/or desktop applications
- Strong portfolio of User Experiences that you have developed
- EXPERIENCE WITH RUBY ON RAILS REQUIRED
- EXPERIENCE WITH HTML5, CSS3, JQUERY REQUIRED
- Excited to work with HAML, Less and Twitter Bootstrap toolkit
- Experience with responsive design and other mobile strategies
- Experience working around and with cross browser constraints and foibles
- Photoshop experience including the ability to extract elements from a PSD design for web use
- Source Control: Git, Mercurial, or SVN
- Coding toward web-standards, accessibility, SEO, SEM
- Strong, analytical thinking skills with attention to detail
- Expert level skills in Presentation Layer Development, XHTML 1.0 Transitional, JavaXcript/DHTML, and CSS
- Expert level skills also required for Adobe Suite
- Experience in XML/XSLT, JSTL, AJAX, jQuery as well as Teamsite, Interwoven a plus
- Cross-browser compatibility, primarily with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox
- IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer, Macromedia Dreamweaver or other web editors
- PhotoShop or Fireworks - for basic graphics manipulation
- Passion for state-of-the-art, cutting edge UX development
- Expert level understanding of current marketplace standards, technologies/trends and apply knowledge to user experience solutions
- Demonstrable experience and examples of CSS layout
- Experience leading medium to large scale projects in the creation of web-enabled Front End user experiences
- Experience in quality assurance activities of all Front End development analysis deliverables
- Demonstrable ability to apply E-business concepts and models to drive value creation
- Adapt quickly and effectively to changing requirements
- High level of self-motivation, innovation and strategic thinking
- Ability to broker differences and conflict well
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - agency background a plus
- Strong sense of teamwork and cooperation in a multi-state team environment
- Ability to work closely with Web Designers, Web Writers, internal customers, and on occasion executive management
