Web Developer - PHP - ZEND - Ruby - Cucumber

Job Role

We are looking for an experienced, professional and enthusiastic developer to join a world-class team responsible for delivering next-generation content management and content delivery tools.

As a member of the team you will have technical design and development responsibilities for the content management system that drives many sites across the company. In particular you will be developing a sophisticated and dynamic web application using the latest technologies and best practices, with extensive use of JavaScript , Ajax, PHP and Zend .

The role requires an excellent knowledge of XML, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, accessibility, web standards, and experience of working in an agile team delivering large scale web applications. Good PHP skills are also required, and experience of application development using REST and MVC is desirable.

Essential Skills

Essential
- Extensive experience writing software for large scale web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, XML and JSON
- Experience of accessibility, usability and cross-browser issues
- Experience of working in a test driven and business driven development environment (TDD/BDD)
- Experience of developing code within a UNIX environment (ideally CentOS/Red Hat EL)
- An understanding of RESTful web service usage and design
- At ease working in a fast changing environment with rapid release cycles
- An understanding of agile development methodologies
- Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by 3rd parties
- Self-motivated with good organisational skills in order to work to challenging deadlines
- Experience of working with code repositories (e.g. SVN) and bug tracking tools (e.g. Trac, JIRA)
