Projektbeschreibung

Imperial College London
Department of Life Sciences
Faculty of Natural Sciences
WEB DEVELOPER (JAVASCRIPT, HTML5)

SALARY: £33,590 - £41,540 P.A.

We wish to recruit a Data Visualisation Web Developer with experience in Javascript and Html5 to work on the OneZoom' project. This unique career opportunity would suit a professional software developer with an interest in joining an original venture in academia, or an academic with a strong skill base in computing.

The post holder will get involved at the base level of a fast growing project, with significant future potential for impact and commercialisation. The OneZoom Tree of Life Explorer provides users with an easy way to explore life on earth and see how it's related through evolution. The OneZoom site has received over 120K unique visitors since its launch in October 2012 and has been featured at least 50 times in popular media around the world. The press release video has been watched 52K times and is the second most watched press release video ever produced by Imperial College London.

The post holder will join the OneZoom team and expand the platform to allow visualisation of other forms of big data that have strong commercial potential: genealogies, pedigrees, directory structures and industrial process plant monitoring. The role will involve working with colleagues in the Faculties of Engineering and Natural Sciences, within Imperial College London and the British Library. The position is available until 30 April 2014, with a possibility of extension, subject to further funding.

You must have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (eg computer science) with experience in a relevant role (eg software development or scientific research). Strong computing abilities, especially with Javascript and Html5 as well as the ability to use your imagination and creativity to solve problems are essential.
