Rate: 33/hour (Ltd Co)

This company is a niche player in the development of instrumentation and measurement solutions which are used in areas such as process control and the oil and gas industry.

To maintain their technical excellence there is an established R&D team in the North East and due to increased business volumes they now have an opportunity for a web software engineer to join the team on a contract basis with a potential of becoming permanent at a later date.

The Role:

You will be developing highly complex web based software that will be used in the Oil and Gas sector. Technically this will be based on .NET technology and WPF for GUI development. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle and will work closely with colleagues undertaking code reviews and production of user documentation. You will also interface to Mechanical and Hardware engineers and Physicists.

The Person:

You will be a graduate with a good degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar engineering related discipline. You will have a proven track record of developing web based applications using ASP.NET, VB.NET, C# and WPF which covers the full lifecycle. It is also important your experience covers engineering related applications requiring awareness of hardware interfacing, protocol design (USB, RS232 etc.) and embedded systems. Experience of developing software solutions for instrumentation and process control would be ideal as would knowledge of UML etc.
