Web Developer (Contract)

WEB DEVELOPER

You are a champion web developer and capable problem solver. You have a strong history working with PHP and MySQL and have a veritable Swiss Army knife of other programming tricks. You are familiar with Open Source CMS's like Wordpress and Drupal and have the ability to integrate and design matching components. You have significant experience developing enterprise-level websites for large public-facing websites using various technologies. You are comfortable with complex large-scale systems and have several years of experience in this space.

You are a strong communicator and have the ability to envision a project's goals, and are able to contribute your ideas on how to make a more effective solution for your client.

As our web developer you will:

- Install and modify open-source software, primarily Content Management Systems such as Wordpress and Drupal;
- Ability to work with architecture and UX teams to develop functional wireframes and prototypes for web applications;
- Using wireframes as a model, have a proven ability to develop sophisticated web applications using common web development languages and databases;
- Develop specifications and create intuitive site maps;
- Possess a proven working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS and Javascript including libraries such as Scriptaculous, Prototype, and JQuery;
- Create web sites that comply to W3C validation standards with accessibility and usability as a key component.
- Have a solid knowledge of server-side Scripting languages, primarily PHP5; SQL and relational databases, primarily MySQL;
- Be proficient with Photoshop, ImageReady or Fireworks, able to slice and manipulate images and graphics;
- Be familiar with web 2.0 and social media concepts;
- Possess basic UNIX administration skills;
- Understand Search Engine Optimization and various SEO techniques;
- Possess strong skills with Mac OS X, Windows and Linux environments;
- Work, in person, out of our Toronto office
- Be able to manage multiple client projects with tight deadlines.
