Web Developer 6 - 9 Month Maternity Cover

Green Shoots Recruitment are assisting a medium sized company that delivers high quality outputs through research and programme management in the social policy field. They are looking for an enthusiastic Web Developer to assist them with upcoming projects for some of their high profile clients across the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will have excellent development skills, a good understanding of the entire development life cycle and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people. The role will be quite varied, therefore a 'can do' attitude, a flexible outlook and a desire to learn is of the utmost importance.

The contractor will need to work with a highly focussed, hardworking creative team in the wider environment of the postholder will be working on contracts, mainly to staff without technical skills or knowledge, but will have access to joint work with a small team of designers and IT developers. The customers are government, international and third sector clients and guaranteeing the quality, usability and value for money of their outputs is central to our offer.

Essential

• At least 5 years web development experience.

• Demonstrable experience developing websites using Drupal 6/7.

• Experience with Drupal CCK, Views and Panels.

• Experience with Wordpress.

• Excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS.

• Understanding of MYSQL, Javascript and PHP.

• Able to develop cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions.

• A good understanding of usability, accessibility and web standard protocols.

• Experience working with 3rd party APIs.

• Experience using Photoshop.

• Keen problem solving skills and the ability to use own initiative.

• Team player - working as part of a small creative team.

Desirable:

• Drupal module development experience.

• Experience with Drupal Commons.

• Project management experience.

• An understanding of design/layout.

• Experience developing responsive websites.

Abilities:

• Maintain awareness of industry trends and developments - particularly accessibility and usability guidelines, emerging technologies and open source software.

• Able to question current working methods and to suggest improvements.
