Web Developer

Our hugely popular client is looking for a highly motivated WEB DEVELOPER with the knowledge and skills to build interactive web applications. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take extreme pride in his/her work. The ideal candidate will be motivated, energetic, detail oriented, flexible, and professional.

The candidate must be willing to work from the ground up with little existing knowledge about the current systems. This includes researching existing information and being able to work independently to resolve any issues. The candidate must be able to present their work and communicate with the clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Creation of site layout/user interface from provided design concepts by using standard HTML/CSS practices
- Placement and layout of web site pages given client provided content
- Development of robust and user-friendly web applications
- Design and creation of relational database schemas
- SQL development
- Application/framework design as needed
- Specifications/requirements gathering as needed
- Routine daily maintenance of existing sites and applications
- Design, create and program SQL Server databases per project needs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of experience as a Web Developer or similar role
- Proficiency using modern web development technologies and techniques, including JavaScript, AJAX, HTML5, CSS, Responsive Design, web services, etc.
- Experience developing AJAX interfaces with AJAX libraries and frameworks (eg DOJO, JQuery, etc.)
- Solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures
- Strong SQL, Linux and Unix Scripting skills
- Experience developing web-based user interfaces for a variety of platforms such as: mobile, desktop, and tablet
- Experience developing web-based user interfaces for a variety of operating systems and browsers
- Solid understanding of software development methodologies and processes
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent professional experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with MVC frameworks like Struts and Spring desired
- Familiarity with Scripting languages (eg Pearl, PHP, Ruby) desired
- Experience with web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST
- Experience with SCRUM or Agile development
- Experience as part of a User Experience or User Centered Design team
- Experience participating in user research activities (eg, usability studies, user interviews, contextual inquiry) is a strong plus.) a strong plus
- Desire to work in a start-up style environment, where iteration is encouraged
- Genuinely excited about technology, strong interest in learning about and playing with the latest technologies and building compelling web applications and UIs
- Ability to plan, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain application program
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Ability to communicate directly with peers, managers, and clients while leading development to a completed and successful solution
- Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients' timelines and budgets
