Web Developer

  GoAhead Solutions has a great opportunity in Ann Arbor, MI for a Web Developer. This would be a two month contract to hire.

Job Summary:

The Web Developer will serve as the primary developer of the presentation layer for both ecommerce and subscription-based product platforms. This person will work closely with web designers to implement mock-up and wireframe designs, and with software engineers to efficiently integrate with backend frameworks. This person will also support new projects by contributing ideas and feedback on potential solutions, cost and effort estimation, and lead front-end implementation. The candidate will be foremost a CSS and JavaScript expert, and should be familiar with various templating systems, comfortable hand coding HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, fluent in cross-browser compatibility implementation, and working within a UNIX/Linux development environment. All implementation will be done with an eye toward best practices, scalability, and maintainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Responsible for all CSS and JavaScript implementation.
-Responsible for the creative design and layout implementation of the transactional ecommerce web store and subscription-based content delivery application.
-Responsible for development and maintenance of style guides.
-Manage implementation and maintenance of partner sites.
-Develop and support PPC and SEO strategies in collaboration with industry experts.
-Work closely with project leaders and stakeholders to review business process issues and project objectives, designing and developing solutions that exceed the customer’s expectations.
-Recommend service offerings and usability enhancements to company website and supporting applications. (search engine, web analytics, email, web services, etc.)
-Provides expertise on current product functions and serves as a resource on future product direction.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

-Demonstrated strong experience in hand coding CSS and JavaScript. Experience with CSS3 and HTML5 a plus.
-JavaScript libraries including Prototype and JQuery.
-Experience with multiple templating engines such as Template Toolkit, Rails ERB, Smarty, and Django.
-Experience with CSS frameworks such as Blueprint, grid-based layouts, and Sass.
-Working knowledge of various browser compatibility issues and workaround best practices.
-Version Control Tools such as Subversion, Mercurial, or Git.
-Development experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment, and using UNIX text-based editors such as vi.
-Experience implementing and optimizing web analytics tools, including Omniture and Google Analytics a plus.
-Graphics creation, editing, and optimizing through Photoshop, Fireworks or other graphics software a plus.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal interaction skills.
-Proven analytical skills, problem-solving ability and decision-making.
-Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education and Previous Experience:

-BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
-3+ years of professional experience as a User Interface developer.
