Web and Digital Developer

An opportunity exists for a Web and Digital Developer to fill a one month contract, with the possibility of staying longer. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team, have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to new situations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop web products and new digital solutions that meet business and end user needs
- Implement web products to required specifications in accordance with recognised technical, design, usability and accessibility standards
- Work collaboratively with clients to ensure websites and digital applications meet their requirements
- Support and maintain existing web products and frameworks through fault-finding bug fixes and other related issues
- Ensure all work is delivered with agreed time frames
- Audit, test and provide compliance guidelines for websites and web products in accordance with agreed mark-up, design, usability and accessibility standards
- Design and develop user interfaces and user interface components to meet business and end-user needs in accordance with agreed technical, design, usability and accessibility standards
- Write technical documentation for internally developed web products
- Keep up to date with new and emerging technologies and programs as well as best practice in web and digital development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in Marketing & Communications and ICT to ensure that strategic goals are achieved
- Develop effective and supportive relationships with staff at all levels across the University and maintain a customer-focussed approach in the delivery of services

SELECTION CRITERIA:

- HTML4, HTML5, XHTML, CSS and Javascript programming skills
- Knowledge of cross-browser testing and relevant W3C standards including WAI-ARIA,
- Experience developing object-oriented Javascript particularly using intermediate languages such as CoffeeScript and frameworks such as iQuery
- Experience developing object-oriented CSS particularly using intermediate languages such as SASS or LESS
- Experience working in a collaborative development team including use of source control and documentation systems
