SEASONAL WATER SPORTS INSTRUCTORS

£8.20 PER HOUR

AS & WHEN REQUIRED (INCLUDES WEEKENDS & BANK HOLIDAYS)

BASED IN SOUTHEND MARINE ACTIVITIES CENTRE, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA, ESSEX

TEMPORARY CONTRACT FROM APRIL TO NOVEMBER 2014

AN ENHANCED CRB ISSUED BY CAPITA RESOURCING IS REQUIRED TO IN SITU PRIOR TO START.

The SMAC Centre on Southend Seafront is an RYA approved training centre and are looking for individuals who have the ability to work as a reliable member of the team, have good customer service skills and enjoy working with adults and children.

We are currently looking to recruit the following instructors to join our friendly team starting from 12 April - 31 October: - SI Dinghy Instructors, Dinghy Instructors, SI Windsurfing Instructors, Windsurfing Instructors, Powerboat Instructors and Jetski Instructors.

WORK PATTERNS WILL BE SCHEDULED AROUND THE COURSES AND GROUP BOOKINGS.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensure the centre's safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
- Ensure that all the centre's 'Customer Care' guidelines are adhered to
- Ensure that the syllabus and standards set down for the course are followed
- Co-ordinate other members of the course instructor team
- Supervise equipment selection and use
- Assist the Chief Instructor with the daily maintenance of the centre's equipment
- Assist with the ongoing cleaning and building maintenance programme
- Ensure that course administration is complete
- Liaise with other Seasonal Watersport Instructors to ensure that resources are used effectively and without clashes
- Communicate clearly both internally and externally the departments needs, views and achievements
- Assist with achieving departmental, service and organisational aims and objectives. To be familiar with Equal Opportunities good practise and the Council's requirements for Diversity and to implement this in all aspects of working practice and promote it in the team and workplace
- Any other duties as required from time to time taking into consideration the grade of the post and capabilities of the employee in the Authorities service and at any of Authority's establishments

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS

- Must have appropriate Coaching award(s) from National Governing Body of the sport involved ie RYA or BCU
- First Aid Qualification
- Well developed presentation skills
- Experience instructor who has experience of leading courses
- Coaching experience in more than one watersport
- Enthusiasm for watersports
- Ability to carry out routine maintenance and cleaning
- Ability to render First Aid to course members, staff and members of the public
- To work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and school holidays
