Volunteer Coordinator - Migration & Refugee Services

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide consultation and direction to develop volunteer services at the site. Recruit and train volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Provide telephone referral service to potential volunteers. Keep informed on site needs, changing programs, etc.
- Provide consultation services on volunteerism.
- Develop volunteer roles in cooperation with staff.
- Develop specific volunteer programs as necessary to meet clients' and site's needs.
- Assist employees in implementing volunteer recognition programs.
- Prepare materials and develop resources to recruit volunteers. Develop job descriptions for volunteers. Screen potential volunteers.
- Design orientation and training programs for volunteers. Modify programs according to specific need.
- Gather statistical data and report as necessary.
- Coordinate community volunteer programs with outside organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by an Associate's Degree or equivalent with one to two years related work experience.
- Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; may be required to do public speaking.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Some knowledge of volunteer program management required.
- Knowledge of relevant community resources preferred.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
