Voice Solution Architect

End-to-end business solutions typically encompass technology infrastructure, telephony systems, data architectures and enterprise-grade business applications. The solution architect, reporting to the Lead Delivery Architect, is responsible for the development of end-to-end solution designs, incorporating all elements of architecture. The solution architect ensures that all applications and services used within a business solution work together seamlessly to deliver business benefits.

The solution architect must possess an in-depth knowledge of business applications, technology stacks and development practices.

This role will be the primary technical contact point on one or more projects, working very closely with the project manager and key stakeholders. The role will be to work on a recently acquired, major business transformation programme and will work in a dedicated, ring-fenced team in order to create high level end-to-end solution designs. The role will also commission and review low level designs. This role also adds value by implementing common standards, systems and hardware that are consistently stable, reliable and which deliver business benefits.

The role will be particularly suited to anyone with a strong applications or integration background.

The key responsibilities of the solution architect are:

*Develop an end-to-end solution design to meet business requirements.
*Ensure the end-to-end application architecture integrates seamlessly with infrastructure, telephony, data and business architectures.
*Ensure approval for the end-to-end solution design through internal and customer governance.
*Peer review end-to-end solution designs and implementations.
*Commission and review low level technical designs. On occasion, create low level technical designs for review.
*Ensure that the end-to-end solution architecture meets all non-functional requirements.
*Make recommendations regarding technical options to meet business challenges.
*Contribute to the development of roadmaps for all key business applications.
*Maintain metadata models for all key business applications.
*Identify opportunities for application re-use and retirement.
*Technical and design consultancy to all members of the project team.
*Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in application technology.
*Responsible for ensuring changes to application solution designs are communicated to all stakeholders and achieve approval through governance.

Third Party Applications and Integration

*Understanding of third party applications, vendor identification, vendor selection and partnerships.
*Understanding of integration best practices.
*Understanding of Middleware technologies and their application.
*Experience of service oriented architectures.

Essential Skills

*Experience as an architect or senior IT professional in outsourcing, working with internal stakeholders and external clients/suppliers.
*Experience of large-scale technology refresh programmes.
*Use of an architecture tool such as EA or ARIS.

Essential Knowledge

*Knowledge of infrastructure architectures, including server design and deployment, clustering, load balancing, resilience and storage; an appreciation of how infrastructure affects application design and vice versa.
*Knowledge of network architectures, including LAN and WAN; an appreciation of how network topologies influence application design, including communication protocols, security, bandwidth requirements and latency.

Desirable Knowledge

*Knowledge of telephony systems and CTI.
*Knowledge of customer-facing web applications and social media in a business context.
