Vmware Virtualisation Specialist - June 2013 Contract

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The VMWare ESX Virtualisation specialist role, as a key member of the Data Centre Relocation Project team, is responsible for supporting the client in documenting, designing and building of greenfield Virtualization environments and working in conjunction with other member of the project team around migration strategy, transition planning, operational readiness, service management documentation, implementation, documentation, maintenance, support, monitoring and enhancement of IT infrastructure as it relates to the Virtualisation Infrastructure. Familiarity with the core infrastructure components of the existing infrastructure is expected.

SKILLS:

- Extensive experience including industry certification in the design, establishment, deployment and operation of VMWare vSphere 4.1, 5.0 and 5.1 environments;
- Extensive experience in the deployment and operation of Virtualisation environments on converged data centre infrastructure;
- Demonstrated understanding of, and enterprise experience in the implementation and support of: Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and server; Virtualisation technologies including ESX and HyperV; Microsoft Active Directory; Enterprise security solutions and Certificate Authority solutions; Citrix XenApp implementations; Network, Server and Storage infrastructure hardware;
- Demonstrated skills in providing support and knowledge transfer in the area of virtualisation to other supporting teams;
- Demonstrated skills in the analysis of complex problems and in the management and troubleshooting of high-impact incidents;
- Demonstrated commitment to service improvement and the delivery of quality outcomes; and
- Sound experience in the use of Scripting, and other techniques, to automate IT processes and procedures.
