Systems Engineer for virtualization projects

Location: Brussels and client sites

Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team who is working on major Virtualization project at one of our client's big customers.

This team will work on projects for one of our client's big 'outsourcing' customer. This is a challenging client who requires solution up and running 24/7 and in multi technologies. About 80 internal people work for this customer in radio, telephony, networking, security, systems, and software solution.

The system engineer's main task will be to implement projects and give support in acceptance. In 2015, our client will implement a major project of virtualization and this engineer has to have experience in VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure).

The sub-team "Outsourcing Architecture & Project" (OAP) is mainly responsible for the IT architecture and implementation of customer's projects. This sub-team has to guarantee that the solution delivered will be easily operable and has the agreed level of service (availability, performance ). Beside projects, this team works also for Operation: resolution of problems.

The tasks and responsibilities of the Systems Engineer are:

To get E2E understanding of the infrastructure at the customer - in application and Systems
For simple projects or part of more complex projects and with the help of the architects
oTo understand the needs of the customer
oTo identify the components of the solution and to draft a high level design
oTo write the official "Request for Changes"
oTo implement the solution and test it
oTo document and make hand over for your colleagues
To be the problem owner of operational problems in Systems
oTo understand and document the issue
oTo investigate and find the root cause (possibly with the help of colleagues with more expertise or in other technology domains)
oTo find a workaround or solution and to document it
To understand and comply with the processes and rules for the customer
oProcesses ITIL for incidents, problems, changes and release
oSecurity, confidentiality, access to production sites
When needed to go on site (all over Belgium) to implement projects and changes, to investigate problems or to solve incidents
To be part of a pool of engineers for the 24/7 guard for Systems.

Profile

Deep knowledge and good expertise in Microsoft System Infrastructure. Experience of more than 3 years in Systems infrastructure and experience of more than 1 year in virtualization.
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers and Windows Client OS
Solution minded, with good communication skills.
Willing to learn new/others technologies.

oUnderstanding of other IT domains (network, storage, Firewall)
oKnowledge of these technologies: SCOM, SCCM, MS SQL

Flexible
Good knowledge in (Dutch or French) and English
