Vmware Specialist - Federal Government

A highly regarded Federal Government department based in Canberra is looking to engage an experienced VMWARE SPECIALIST for the Data Relocation Project to complete physical to virtual and virtual to virtual migrations. The is a rare and highly sought after 8 month contract commencing immediately with a rewarding hourly rate on offer and possible extension of up to 12 months.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

- Perform Physical to Virtual (P2V) and Virtual to Virtual (V2V) conversions using VMware converter and storage migration techniques.
- Assist with hardware and software configuration within the departments Standard Operating Environment (SOE).
- Liaise with application owners, test teams and other technical staff to plan and complete the migrations.
- Undertake testing of infrastructure and assisting with application testing.
- Provide 3rd level Support services for server infrastructure issues.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:

- Requires demonstrated experience performing P2V and V2V migrations in a VMware vSphere 5 environment
- Demonstrated experience using VMware vCloud Director
- Detailed understanding of the Microsoft Server 2003 and 2008 operating systems.
- Detailed understanding of the Microsoft Active Directory technology
- Detailed understanding of storage technologies and how they pertain to VMware vSphere environments
