Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics invites
nominations and applications for the position of Vice Chair for Research. The successful candidate
will:

- be a nationally recognized basic or translational PhD and/or MD credentialed researcher
- have demonstrated achievement in independent NIH?funded research and team?oriented

science
- have a strong record of contributions in mentorship of trainees and junior faculty
- show a background of scholarship service on academic committees and professional

organizations

The Vice Chair for Research will also serve as the Director of the Department's Research Division.
In addition to providing leadership direction to expand the breadth and depth of the Research
Division's basic science portfolio, the VCR will be the conduit for strengthening research
investigation and scholarship across the Department's clinical divisions and educational programs
by promoting and identifying collaborative opportunities, strengthening existing research
partnerships, and fostering an extended network of collaborations at local, national, and global
levels. The Vice Chair for Research will work with department leadership and individual faculty to
identify interests and opportunities for scholarly and academic development, contribute to career
planning and counseling, and work with senior faculty to increase the mentorship capacity for the
department.

The Department is positioned to strengthen its standing in research, with a commitment for an
expansion in faculty complement and ancillary support.
