VDI Engineer

This VDI Engineer will participate in the implementation, troubleshooting, and operation of the desktop virtualization environment. The Engineer must be able to work with a team yet still be able to complete multiple, concurrent, complex tasks with minimal or no supervision. This role requires excellent communication skills, both with team members and business contacts at different levels. This role also requires excellent troubleshooting skills, solution development skills, and attention to detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

- Participate in the implementation, troubleshooting, and operation of an entire desktop virtualization ecosystem with a focus on the desktop discipline in said ecosystem. This includes:
- Production and Test ecosystems
- Endpoint hardware and software
- Desktop image creation, management, and operations
- Desktop pool creation, management, and operations
- Interact with hardware and software vendors to assure timely resolution to any issues.
- Participate in requirements gathering and definition.
- Participate in project planning.
- Participate in functional test planning and testing for the virtualized endpoint environment and related applications.
- Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the virtualized endpoint environment and related applications.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing by creating and maintaining detailed and comprehensive documentation and diagrams.
- Maintain high level of knowledge in area of expertise.
- Work with the team to ensure the quality of coordinated business functions.
- Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or 6+ years of industry experience
- Experience managing more than 100 virtual desktops using VMware View 4.x or greater
- Basic Knowledge of VMware vCenter
- Excellent knowledge of VMware View 4.6 or above
- Foundational understanding of enterprise storage and networking
- Knowledge of application virtualization technologies; specifically VMware ThinApp
- Excellent knowledge of endpoint virtualization technologies and industry best practices for endpoint virtualization
- Excellent knowledge of system and network management tool concepts
- Excellent knowledge of a Scripting language such as PowerShell, Perl, or VBScript
- Excellent knowledge of DNS, DHCP, WINS, TCP/IP, PXE, NAT and network related technologies such as LAN/WAN topologies, transports and routing
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Accomplishes tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of the enterprise desktop life cycle
- Understanding of desktop virtualization best practices
- Potential travel to WA, CA, MT, or AK - 5%

This contract will be a minimum of 9 months in duration.
