VB.NET Developer Role

Key technical skills

Essential:

VB.NET, Agile, Oracle / Microsoft SQL Server, OO design, N-tier development, Unit Testing (including TDD)

Desirable:

Multi-threaded application development, knowledge of IBM WebSphere MQ, web server, object relational mappers, Linux, applications for performance, continuous integration, Trading systems

Main requirements:

-Strong programming skills: VB.NET, Oracle, Agile, SQL Server, OO Programming, N-Tier Development, Unit Testing.
-Technical knowledge - experience with test driven development, design patterns. Architecting and implementing RDMS databases, including stored procedures, database performance tuning, creating technical documentation in UML.
-Communication - to have the ability to liaise appropriately with the users on a daily basis and build a close working relationship with support groups and other users.
-Organisational skills - must have the ability to record progress and estimate completion dates for tasks, strives to continually improve productivity and quality of software, willing to help and support all products.
-Team Work - participate in discussion to achieve best software solutions, self motivated and conscientious, continually seeks to expand technical and business knowledge.
-Analytical skills - Ability to analyse a complex problem and identify potential solutions by exploring and analysing diverse alternatives, including, where applicable, risks and potential business impact.
-Self awareness - Has a clear appreciation of strengths and limitations. Seeks guidance and advice when appropriate.
-Results orientated - Sets high targets/objectives for self. Is influential in department in reaching targets. Committed to improving productivity. Tries to be above the requested performance.

Business Knowledge - Experience of the Financial Services Industry (SIPPs/ ISAs/ Unit Trusts/ Money Markets/ Trading Services/ Financial messaging/ Clearing & Settlement/ Custody)
