VAT Assistant

Spring Technology are looking for VAT Accountant for our public sector client based in Birmingham.

Assignment:
To provide VAT and accountancy skills and expertise in helping the Agency to implement many VAT recommendations that were identified in a recent audit.

Key deliverables:
* Update VAT guidance
* Ensure VAT correct treatment documented for future Policy.
* Co-ordinate agreed VAT treatment with DfT/HMRC as necessary.
* Liaise with all Agency business areas to ensure VAT queries are tackled and resolved.
* Manage the delivery of solutions for issues identified in the DfT/HMRC audit.
* Ensure all VAT treatment are documented for future Policy advice.
* Provide training to ensure the knowledge of VAT is enhanced in the Agency.
* Provide fully documented Contracted Out Services requirement for the Agency.
* Provide quarterly VAT review and analysis.
* Review existing policy document to ensure correct VAT treatment.
* Review the partial exemption calculation, ensure it is understood and confirm process with dfT.
* Quarterly VAT Newsletter to be implemented to include changes to VAT rules.

Experience/Qualifications:
* VAT accounting in a large organisation.
* Proficiency in a range of office software to enable production/maintenance of a range of documents and management reports.
* A good track record of tackling VAT issues and delivering outcomes and achievements in a customer focused organisation.
* Knowledge of Contracted Out Services would be desirable.
* Excel to manage a number of spreadsheets;
* Public Sector VAT accounting experience;
* Some experience of delivering training.
* Part qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent);
