Validation Engineer

An exciting opportunity is available to support a dynamic group working with the next generation of mini-notebook PC. This position supports validating component capabilities for key media use cases. You will be the technical "go to" resource for media validation for video, audio or camera capabilities and use cases on the client's mini-notebook platform running Windows 8. You will be using video, audio and camera validation tools to measure quality - functionality, performance and power to meet quality requirements. You will be doing hands on debugging to triage the bugs. You will also be responsible for delivering and maintaining metrics and sharing the metrics with internal stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

- Maintain and enhance test cases for audio, video, camera
- Develop and run automated test scripts for objective tests
- Build code and run smoke tests and subjective tests to analyze quality for key audio, video and camera use cases
- Triage issues and file bugs in the bug database; Identify hardware vs. software issues
- Develop, automate and run unit tests (eg using CUnit or MS Unit Test framework) as necessary for driver level APIs to verify hardware and firmware capabilities
- Document test cases and test metrics; Communicate test metrics with internal stakeholders
- Provide technical support to developers or third parties

QUALIFICATIONS

- Some experience in validation; running regression tests, triaging code, analysing hardware-software dependency
- Some experience with desired video and audio development and validation
- Hands-on code and script development and validation
- Must have software media validation experience in C/C++
- Must have demonstrated skills with automating tests and troubleshooting bugs
- Experienced in working at a Middleware, driver and firmware level
- Clear communication, writing and verbal skills
- Must be a good team player with ability to think through issues and work independently
- Software coding and debug skills a plus
