Projektbeschreibung
Our client is looking for an experienced Web application developer with proven expertise and experience in developing Web applications in JavaScript for the visualisation of scientific data (Charts, maps). Experience with OGC standards (mainly WMS/WMTS and WCS) and map clients such as OpenLayers or Leaflet is a must, since the Web application will visualise geo-referenced raster (maps) and vector data (charts, tables).
Furthermore expertise and experience in User Experience design for GEO data applications is key: the aim of the assignment is to rebuild an existing Web application which is built in an R&D context and needs to:
- become more consumer friendly: easier to use, more attractive, more intuitive, … ,
- run smoothly on a tablet (iOS & Android): not as a Mobile App, but from the most commonly used browsers on the tablets. In the current prototype a Responsive Design is yet applied,
- run smoothly from a browser on a pc with various screen sizes,
- be tested in-depth on different browsers, be integrated in Drupal. A commercial exploitation of the application needs to be addressed as well, where by the features from Drupal on Authentication & Authorisation can be used.
The starting point in terms of functionality will be the existing prototype application (developed in AngularJS),where several small features need to be added. Whether components from the existing prototype will be reused is to be defined, but is certainly not required.
The Web application communicates with backend services using Geoserver (WMTS) and ElasticSearch . A good experience with these technologies and in general Geo data handling and presentation is a must. Furthermore UX design experience and expertise in how to drive a process of developing an easy-to-use Web application is an absolute must.
