User Interface Developer/Designer

An exciting opportunity has just arisen for a UI/Front End Developer/Designer who is passionate about creating desirable, usable and aesthetically brilliant interfaces employing smart, accessible and standards-compliant techniques. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years experience in a Web 2.0 professional standards-based web development role and be a bright, switched on individual who wants to be a part of a great team culture. You must be able to work autonomously as well as act part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Own and lead the user interface and Front End' considerations of the project
- Design and implement web/non-web applications specializing in the user interface
- Create cross-browser/cross-platform code across tablets, smartphones and web
- Have previous web, agency and design experience (PSD to CSS3 capability)
- Contribute to a growing pattern library of reusable code and design
- Estimate how much effort your work will take and commit to meeting your estimates
- Work in an multidisciplinary agile team employing SCRUM
- Be fanatical about the User Experience and design considerations

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

- Demonstrated and proven track record of implementing effective Ux design
- Translation of PSD to CSS3 and strong understanding of cross platform/browser
- Excellent proficiency with HTML/CSS3 and JQuery as well as mobile/tablet protocols
- Proven ability of delivering services within the public sector context
- Liferay themes proficiency and Open-source development framework
- Ability to interface with Ux Lead, Project Lead and development team
- Ability to inform and interpret visual design brief into active-state screens
- Ability to work with UX annotated wireframes and defined stories
- Strong understanding of IA principles and adaptive content
- Promote test-driven development and automated test principles
- Proponent of Continuous Integration/Deployment/Delivery and Testing
- High familiarity with Liferay Portal (6.1) or similar open-source framework
- Selenium unit testing framework or equivalent
