User Interaction Designer (UI)

For a 9 month project with our client in Zurich, we are looking for a User Interaction Designer (UI).

Role: Interaction Designer
Location: Zurich
Contract: 9 months/40 hours per week

*Note: the team are open to candidates who are available on reduced hours of 70-80% per week as well*

Area
We follow a simple but vital premise in the User Experience group: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." We're interested in our users and strive to learn everything we can about their behaviours, attitudes and emotions to help define the products and experiences we create. The User Experience team is a critical driving force behind gathering these insights and then using them to inspire and inform design. We are a multi-disciplinary team of interaction designers, visual designers, user researchers, content strategists and web developers who collaborate closely with each other and with engineering and product management to create innovative, usable, great-looking products that people love to use. The aim of the project is to create a tool which allows data to evolve over time. This tool will help evaluate data. The aim of the project is to rebuild this tool from scratch and redefine critical user journeys- capable of clearly communicating how this can be improved/simplified for the future.

Responsibilities
* Help to define the user model and user interface for new and existing Google products and features with a strong focus on data visualization and analysis.
* Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
* Gauge the usability of new and existing product features and making constructive suggestions for change.
* Iterate on interaction solutions with Engineering and Product Management.

*Creating user flows and wireframes to building user interface mockups and prototypes

Minimum qualifications
* BA/BS degree in Design (eg interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications
* MA/MS degree in Design (eg interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or a related field
* Experience/passion for great data visualization & analysis experience.
* Material Design experience is a plus, but not required
* Strong, clean visual design sense.
* Demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces.
* Expert HTML skills.
* Knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes.
* Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
* Creation of mocks.
* Material Design experience is a plus, but not required
* Experience using the Tableau Software would be deemed a plus, but is not essential
* D3.js (or just D3 for Data-Driven Documents) experience
