Our client is a very popular online retail company looking for a talented User Experience Designer with a passion and insight for creating innovative, yet highly effective products to help transform our core experiences for Cruise customers. This User Experience Designer will be responsible for the UI architecture, interaction, and ultimate usability of Cruise Shopping Pages. On a day-to-day basis, you will be partnering with business owners, product managers, developers and visual designers. You will be responsible for creating and communicating detailed design and functional requirements through all stages of the product development process, including problem definition and experience briefs, user flows, wireframes, visual comps and rapid, lightweight interactive prototypes. The position requires both a creative visual thinker as well as an inherently analytical and detail-oriented mind.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Help to define and realize product features in aggressive timelines and collaborating with other teams to create compelling world-class customer experiences that take client presence to the next level.
- Create the UI and interaction design specs as needed through the creation of user experience briefs, conceptual IA documentation, site maps, concept diagrams, user scenarios, user-flows, wireframes, visual comps, and both rapid lo-FI and detailed high-fidelity interactive prototypes
- Create multiple solutions to a single design problem and iterate to a final design.
- Drive optimal experiences, measured in terms of usability, intuitiveness, consistency, time to market, and ultimately, business success metrics.
- Develop and maintain detailed visual and user-interface specifications and design patterns.
- Analyze customer-related research to better inform user stories, priorities and solutions.
- Advocate industry standards and user-centric design principals and champion innovative techniques and solutions.
- Present and pitch design solutions to leadership team, business stakeholders, partner stakeholders, and executives for review and feedback.
- Leverage ability to estimate level of effort for tasks for design initiatives.
- Lead brainstorming sessions.
- Critique other creative work, offering direction for improving quality, consistency or strategy.
- Ensure that the product is delivered on time and with a consistent, user-driven design.
- Provide insights on where user needs are not being met at the feature level.
- Provide recommendations for ongoing product strategy based on qualitative and quantitative data.
- Coordinate or execute user research efforts, eg, interviews, usability testing, and surveys, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

- 3+ years of experience in online interaction design or information architecture, preferably E-commerce
- Online portfolio or sample of work demonstrating experience creating user-centered design solutions with effective and beautiful visual designs (excellent grasp of typography, color, rhythm, alignment, balance, texture, layout)
- Advanced understanding of information design, web accessibility, UI, interaction and visual design best practices, limitations and constraints of Front End presentation principals and browser limitations
- Advanced skills with a variety of design and prototyping tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Visio, Axure, Omnigraffle, Morae, etc.
- Ability to prototype in HTML and CSS a plus
- Ability to cover multiple projects and work streams in a fast-paced, highly technical environment
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment and working directly with developers, program managers, product managers and business owners for implementation of designs
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
- Familiarity with agile software development processes a plus
- Passionate self-starter who can be visionary, detailed-oriented and an enthusiastic team player
- Knowledge of the travel industry a plus
- Knowledge of statistical data analysis a plus
- Understanding of the product life cycle (Evaluation/Requirements gathering, specification/design, implementation) and its deliverables
