Unix Specialist

A large financial services organisation based in Leeds/Pudsey require a UNIX Specialist with strong Linux Redhat and Clustering experience.

Location - Leeds/Pudsey
Duration - 6 months

Role specific Capabilities & Knowledge:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential, as is the ability to deal confidently with colleagues, management and HR.
- Excellent Presentation and Training skills.
- Disciplined work approach including the ability to work to deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of support to colleagues is essential.
- Strong motivational skills to support colleagues and issues within the team.
- Self motivation and good organisational skills are required, as is the ability to appreciate the workload of the whole team and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the teams targets are met.
- Achievement driven with proven track record for operating in a fast moving, ever changing environment with the ability to work within defined service levels.
- Allocation of project build work to the project build technicians and monitoring and reporting of progress.
- Deep understanding of RHEL versions 5/6 & 7 on X86 or zLinux Hardware platforms
- Understanding of the use and operation of RHN Satellite Servers
- Use of VM Hypervisor technologies such as VM Ware & Z VM
- Some knowledge of HP SA, HP OO & HP CSA automation technologies
- Some experience of Veritas Clustering & Storage Foundation software
- Some experience of using Python & Shell Scripting languages
- Some experience of running Oracle on Linux platforms
