Unix/Linux Systems Engineer

One of our key clients is currently seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Engineer to join their team for an initial 12 month contract.

The successful candidate will provide the technical planning and implementation for migration of IT services onto new central infrastructure. This will primarily involve migrating and/or rationalising Servers and services from old infrastructure onto central data centre infrastructure (mostly virtual Servers)

Responsibilities & Requirements

- Proven technical skills with Linux/Unix systems administration.
- Proven technical skills in TCP/IP network administration and implementation, including DHCP/DNS and Samba/SMB
- Strong understanding of VMware technology and storage principles.
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyse and solve complex application support and hosting problems and issues.
- Proven project and server migration experience
- Around 3-5 years experience in the management and delivery of Unix/Linux Servers, with desirable experience in OS X and Solaris.
- Experience with server builds and migrations, desirably including VMware server builds.
- Experience in Patch Management solutions.
- Experience in ITIL or change managed environments
- Experience in preparing technical scope of works documentation
