Unix/Linux Technical Support Specialist, £40-58K,London This role is focused within the Wholesale Markets and Treasury of one ofLondon's premier banking institutions. You will be centralised within the Unix Delivery Team who's primary focus is the support and development of the Unix technology and infrastructure for any trading business areas. The client is looking for an effective communicator with strong relevant technical experience. The ability to work on an individual basis and as part of a team is essential in addition to a strong emphasis on driving customer service. Ideal candidates will have the ability to identify and resolve technical issues in a timely fashion. Technical Skill Set: * A thorough understanding of a wide breadth of Unix infrastructure * Proven ability to understand technical environments * Experience operating within a Service Delivery function * Unix administration skills focused on supporting Solaris and Linux operating systems within a financial/trading environment * Hands on experience of Solaris 8 and Solaris 10 (5 years minimum) * Hands on experience building, supporting Sun/Oracle servers (3 years minimum) Essential exposure : * DNS / NIS / LDAP * Veritas Foundation suite * Veritas Foundation suite HA * BMC Patrol / Big Brother / NetIQ * Familiarity with the latest Sun hardware portfolio * Knowledge of Oracle Ops Center and Jumpstart skills * Solaris Virtualisation Infrastructure Skills (Containers & LDOM's) Desired exposure: * Connect Direct * IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler * Familiarity with the HP DL & BL hardware * Sun Directory Services and NIS administration * Quest Authentication Services (QAS) This is a permanent role with ample opportunities for career progression.
