UI Designer

Our hugely popular client is looking for a User Experience Designer with strong user interface, usability and visual design skills. You will design for public and corporate retail purchase and redemption of gift cards (desktop and mobile worldwide), and for the client's internal tools used to create or modify gift cards.

The ideal candidate is aware of current E-commerce best practices and knows how to leverage visitor data and user feedback to inform their recommendations and measure their design solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Create process flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups, and detailed UI and visual design specifications (redlines) for web and mobile.
- Request and drive user research as needed. Must be able to conduct research on your own or be able to lead a contractor to provide these services.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to help define business and feature requirements.
- Assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features by actively participating in usability testing and interpreting analytics data.
- Present design work to the product team, engineering team, and external partners for review and feedback.
- Contribute to user interface design and development best practices and standards.
- Partner with highly technical teams and handle multiple projects in an agile, fast-paced environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3+ years professional experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, or User Interface Designer
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in design or human-computer interaction
- Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design
- Strong practical knowledge of user-centered design methodologies and usability principles
- Proficiency in standard design tools including Photoshop and Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and wireframing tools, such as Omnigraffle, Vizio, or Axure
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS
- Available portfolio or samples of work demonstrating great user-centered design solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
- Demonstrated visual design expertise; capacity for creating fun, highly usable designs and layouts, and a propensity towards simplification
- Ability to turn around rigorous wireframes and mockups quickly in an iterative environment and generate design ideas quickly (whiteboarding) with team members
- General understanding of how design impacts development and how to design something good that is technically feasible and prudent
- Ability to scope design initiatives accurately and prioritize work items appropriately
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
- Retail and eCommerce design experience
- Experience designing user experiences for desktop and mobile devices
- Ability to prototype in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Flash or Flex (or use Axure) and to run usability studies
- Proficiency with web and mobile standards

This contract position is expected to be 3 months in duration.
