START: 1 August 2013
DURATION: 12 months ++ (renewable)
LOCATION: Brussels
TITLE: Desktop Support
My client, an international company in the chemical industry.
DESCRIPTION:
IT SERVICE DESK - ZAVENTEM
This position will be responsible for End User support, plus IT equipment setup and maintenance in Zaventem office, as well as support to the remote users. Day to Day guidance will be provided by the 'Analyst IT Service Desk'.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide first-line onsite desktop support to the client Zaventem site and remote desktop support for the client sites. Responsibilities include taking calls and logging issues into a problem management database
- Use troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and respond to hardware, software and application problems
- Carry out daily backup tasks and tape management
- Ensure timely Microsoft patching of all workstations
- Setup and install the client standard equipment for new users and replacement equipment for existing users both onsite and remote home/office workers
- Provide necessary IT training to business users
- Update IT documentation and procedures as required
- Cooperate with global IT to implement IT Standards and Security policy
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, etc. are a plus or the equivalent IT related experience
- Hands on experience with installation and configuring laptops, desktops, printers & other infrastructure devices
- Demonstrated experience learning and supporting business applications. Experience in browser based applications is a plus
- Setup and support of MS Windows 7 plus MS Office and Outlook
- Setup and support of Mobile Phones and Smart Phones
- Additional experience of working with Active Directory, WSUS, SCCM would be beneficial
- Very good verbal and written communication skills in English (working language), French and Dutch. German is a plus.
- The Candidate must be Customer Service oriented, be a quick learner, be results driven and be able to work under pressure when necessary
- Driver license
