Our client, a leading Defence Governement organisation is seeking a Training Manager on a contract basis.

This is a contract role paying £430 Ltd per day Ltd on a 1.5 year contract

A Training Manager is a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and consultant in training design, delivery and quality assurance, and works as part of a small team comprising other Training Managers and a Training Officer. Training Managers operate within the framework of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) (JSP 822) to undertake training-related tasks across the full range of DSAT processes.

These tasks could include the design and delivery of full training packages, drawing in scientific and technical SMEs from across Dstl, or indeed the wider defence and security communities. They could also include providing training advice and consultancy for training-related activities organised by others; this ranges from hands-on specialist training, to Training Defence Line Of Development (DLOD) consultancy on CBRN procurement projects.This role requires an individual with skills and experience in training design and delivery, and a commitment to the learning and development area. Instructional or teaching qualifications will be beneficial, although Training Managers are not expected to instruct. It would especially suit a proactive, confident and gregarious individual. You should have a working knowledge of military processes and capability, and the role would suit someone with scientific and technical or operational knowledge and experience in CBRN, which will be their primary focus. Expertise in other areas of Defence and Security, such as in Defence Acquisition, will be viewed favourably.

Essential Experience:

Demonstrable practical skills and knowledge in the full life cycle of training design, delivery and quality assurance. Confident and cogent written and verbal communications skills. IT literacy, with good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Awareness of CBRN in defence and/or security. Experience of working in learning and development, or training design, delivery or Administration/project management. Provide expertise and consultancy on training design, delivery and quality assurance to ensure the team delivers a quality product to niche and specialist defence and security customers. Carry out full life cycle training design and delivery activities, such as training needs analysis, and provide the appropriate reports to deliver against customer requirements. Carry out training delivery activities, such as the organisation and facilitation of training events, in consultation with the customer, the project manager, and the rest of the Training Advisory Capability team, so that customer requirements are delivered. Carry out training quality assurance activities, such as instructor assessment or eliciting and acting on customer and instructor feedback, in order to ensure team continuous improvement and continued development of our services. Manage, coach and mentor scientific and technical subject matter experts to help them deliver effectively as technical trainers and instructors and provide a quality service to their customers

Desirable Experience:

An S&T, operations or project background in the area of CBRN. Technical/Professional Experience of working in a defence setting, whether industry, the MoD, the Armed Forces or the Defence Agencies. Formal learning and development or training-related professional or vocational qualifications are desirable.
