Traffic Management Systems (TMS) Specialist

In coming years, it is necessary to renew large parts of the railway signalling systems in Norway, so we'll be facing with many exciting challenges with the optimization of existing facilities and installing new systems. Rail is now working on plans to introduce the new European signalling standard system - ERTMS. You will be part of the organization that will manage and direct the engineering efforts towards implementation of this new system of standards.

We are looking for an experienced Traffic Management Systems (TMS) Specialist that would be engaged in a large implementation project of the ERTMS on the Norwegian railway network.

MAIN TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform, administer, or supervise technical and analytical work concerned with planning, development, and execution of traffic policies and programs
- Provide advisory services to operating program managers on transportation program requirements, capabilities, policies, and procedures
- Analyze and evaluate effectiveness of transportation programs and recommend alternative strategies to improve efficiency and economy of operations
- Analyze transportation costs to develop alternatives in procurement, storage, distribution, or stocking procedures
- Maintain liaison with transportation industry representatives and organizations to evaluate industry proposals and deal with matters of mutual interest

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

- Experience in performing, administering or supervising technical and analytical work concerned with planning, development and execution of traffic policies and programs in the railway industry
- Experience in interpreting applicable Federal and local laws, and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures
- Experience which demonstrates knowledge of transportation requirements and systems for specific geographic areas
- Expert knowledge of the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS)
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Initiative and leadership skills
- Excellent analytical thinking skills and strong attention to detail
