Trading Assistant - Sell Side - Corporate Loans - Asset Pool

Our client are a leading bank who are currently amidst a phase of a huge transformation. Last year they established an entity to resolve the capital challenges faced by the bank arising from changing capital regulations. This entity is focused on multi-billion assets and associated capital - specially the rundown. In addition, they are also responsible for the IPO of another new entity being created. They are currently seeking a Trading Assistant on a rolling 6 month contract working for the Credit Trader. The Trading Assistant will be responsible for contributing towards the exit of the banks capital intensive assets in line with the strategic plan to reduce 55-70% of assets over two years and to complete the exit of at least 85% assets in this category within three years or earlier.

The Trading Assistant will focus on:

- Proving support to accelerate the exit of capital intensive assets within the various portfolios in a capital accretive way.
- Assisting to reduce the risk exposure in the asset pool whilst with maximising shareholder & economic value.
- Working with the Credit Traders to optimise value by facing off to the market to control messaging and gathering market information procurement, whilst identifying options to maximise best distribution of assets across Real Estate, Corporate, Structured Finance and Derivatives.
- Contributing to the wider strategic direction and delivery
- Support of the Credit Traders and wider Distribution team in achieving objectives to develop exit strategies and solutions for the reduction of assets and capital consistent with our strategic plan in relation to the agreed portfolios and other ad hoc assets as required
- Actively support the Credit Traders to manage the disposition of assets and work collaboratively with Real Estate, Corporate, and Markets & Structured Finance, in order to achieve capital targets, minimise loss volatility and maximise return on capital
- Assist Credit Traders with all aspects of loan sale and executions for relevant assets bringing best practices across the division, including:
- Work with enablement teams to prepare assets for sale
- Perform credit, legal and market diligence on assets to extent necessary to help inform ability and strategy of sales
- Receive investor feedback/market commentary to help inform strategy
- Assist with the negotiation of NDAs and liaise with Legal to facilitate execution of NDAs and other legal issues
- Preparing marketing material and conduct Sales teach-ins
- Liaise with loan closing team to assist settlement
- Support distribution plans to ensure the agreed strategy is implemented and connected to the wider strategy around asset disposals and preserving capital.
- Ensure compliance with the regulatory and statutory requirements and business unit compliance policies and procedures affecting the business area.
- Comply with relevant Group Policies, testing and certifying the adequacy and effectiveness of their controls on a regular basis.

Key Skills & Experience:

- Experience of working in a Markets/Finance corporate/securitisation business
- Technical knowledge of Credit Markets
- Sound experience in complex financing and deal execution.
- Strong track record of achievement and delivery
- Adaptability to respond quickly to changes in business areas and global economies, recognising and understanding risk implications of such changes
- Experience of developing and maintaining client relationships in a financial services environment with extensive secondary market relationships
- Understanding of international financial activities in large corporate organisations
- Ability to demonstrate decisiveness and sound judgement on a consistent basis
- Demonstrated ability to work within a professional environment, where planning and interpersonal skills were critical to success
- Working well in teams with multi-skilled professionals
- Knowledge of interplay of funding costs, RWA, TPA, P&L
- Knowledge of complex deal structures, complex deal structuring techniques and deal documentation
- Good knowledge of corporate financial instruments, products and debt/company valuation skills
- Very good knowledge of loan documents, transferability restrictions and settlement issues
- Ability to negotiate legal documents and non-disclosure agreements
- Understanding of secondary markets, sale processes, syndicate analysis and credit trading
- experience with a Big 4 background, ideally within transaction services/restructuring/corporate finance
