TOOLING DESIGN ENGINEER

Overview:

Our client is a leading brand in Aviation, concerned with the manufacture of complex products and they are currently looking to recruit an experienced Tool Designer to join their Gloucestershire based Design Team.

Anyone wishing to be considered for this position must have previous experience of designing tooling for the aerospace/automotive industries and be fully conversant with Catia V5.

Responsibilities:

Maintain the assembly build jigs and support the tooling philosophy to ensure alignment with the manufacturing process/build philosophy.
Develop operational tooling concepts.
Estimate supply and design costs.
Project manage design phase on tooling projects.
Create user manuals for tooling, along with any further support documentation.
Investigate process improvements and build issues.
Liaise with Tool Engineering, manufacturing engineering, shop floor operators and management.
Comply with Health and Safety requirements.

Requirements:

Extensive experience of working as a Tool Designer.
Able to convert CADD 5 to Catia V5/4.
Provable knowledge of Aerospace standards/processes.
Able to demonstrate a full understanding of recertification requirements and ICY requirements (relating to tooling).
Understanding of 'lifting & handling' and 'height & ergonomics' regulations.
