Tool Designer

A large company in southeast IOWA is looking for a Tooling Design Engineer for a long term contract. The candidate will design Tooling and fixtures n 2D and 3D along with coordinating fabrication and validation of tooling & fixtures in production and new product development environments. Candidate must have experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T). This is a long term contract.Per-diem is available for right candidate

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform analytics necessary for designing tooling and fixtures (tolerance stack-ups, part fit-up, etc.)
- Work with Manufacturing shop personnel and Process Engineering to assure that design manufacturability is achieved in a production environment
- Coordinate fabrication and validation of tooling & fixtures in production and new product development environments

REQUIREMENTS

- Experience setting up a Preventative Maintenance program for a large quantity of fixtures/tools.
- Experience with Welding, CNC Programming and Operation, Machining, or Tool & Die.
- Certification as a Journeyman (tool and die) a plus
- Experience with 2D and 3D design software such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
