Role and responsibilities

* Aligned to the procedures manual that delivers 24X7 Service Assurance, through the provision of proactive support to all production, test and development environments.
* Provide technical consultancy and define future roadmap within the scheduling and backup discipline
* Support business continuity development, maintenance and testing execution.
* Measure, report and act upon the performance of the scheduling and backup infrastructure and associated applications ensuring optimal performance and appropriate resource management.
* Ensure that deviations to production schedules and service windows are acted upon, communicated in a service oriented manner and escalated as appropriate.
* Maintain effective KPI's that demonstrate consistent service quality and that any deviations are addressed through proactive correction activity.
* Ownership of Data Centre change outside office hours ensuring that tracking, closure or escalation of issues is maintained.
* Maintain the Data Centre Procedures Workbook ensuring that it remains current and fit for purpose.
* Maintain the currency of recovery process and procedures such that they facilitate the recovery of current infrastructure components in the event of a scheduled targeted BCM test scenario or a declared disaster scenario.
* Manage external suppliers aligned to the framework agreed between BBS-IT and Purchasing.

Skills and experience required

Strong skills in the support of Unix and Intel hardware and operating systems associated with IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) and Symantec Netbackup (NBU) environments.

* Knowledge in data centre management, scheduling and backup disciplines.
* Sound knowledge of TWS scheduling and NBU restore processes.
* Knowledge of ITIL processes and practices and an understanding of the requirements of ISO27001 standards and how they apply to the Data Centre, scheduling and backup practices.
* Knowledge of business continuity management methodologies.
* Experience of third party liaison and coordination.
* An insight in project implementation as the successful candidate will be involved from backup / scheduling standpoint.
