TITLE: BIG DATA CONSULTANT, BANKING, BRUSSELS

Background
The databases team is in charge of DB2 on zOS, Oracle on Unix and MS SQL Servers on Windows as well as the Business Intelligence and Big Data infrastructures.
The team takes care of the installation, configuration of the software as well as the support of the production, test and development systems.
It also provides technical guidelines and participates in design reviews, working in close collaboration with project leaders and development teams.
It ensures the stability, performance and security of the infrastructure and manages the software versioning and patching.

THE ROLE:

The consultant will join the Big Data team to work on various projects such as:

- Multi Data-centre evolution of the Big Data infrastructure;
- Improvement of the infrastructure in light of the roadmap of the development department;

For instance if a use case identifies the need for a new component in the BD infrastructures, how to best enable it, configure it, review the technical design, make sure the non-functional-requirements are met.

Interesting and diverse role also involves:

-the definition of guidelines and best practices (infra usage, coding guidelines, scheduling best practices);
-help the team to improve the infrastructure and service level;
-to achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business

objectives;

-to ensure the highest reliability and performance;
-to be involved in the software installation procedure and configuration of the Servers, release management, upgrade/migrations of softwares, disaster recovery plans, security of Servers, performance tuning.

Please note that this is a part time job (avg. 2 days per week, with ad-hoc adjustment on a need basis, in agreement with the consultant)
