Description

Alstom's first turnkey project in the UK, known as Nottingham Express Transit is extend the existing Nottingham Tram system with the construction of two new lines from the city centre terminus. The project also includes the operation and maintenance of the current system as well as the two new lines once they are built. In fulfilling this contract, Alstom will draw on its global expertise in the area of infrastructure and turnkey systems. This activity includes electrification of railway lines, track laying, modernisation of existing lines and electromechanical systems for new railway lines, tramways and metros. Alstom has already electrified more than 10,000 kilometres and has laid more than 2,000 kilometres of track. Reporting hierarchically to the Testing & Commissioning Manager you will be in charge for preparation, execution and reporting of Test and Commissioning activities related to signalling and telecommunications sub-systems supplied by Alstom TIS for the Nottingham Project.

Your main duties will be to:

Write and update T&C procedures for a given sub-system (SCADA, AVLS, Radio, Signalling, Telecoms).
Identify possible technical risks related to T&C activities.
Prepare and execute both static and dynamic tests related to the given sub-system.
Release test reports for submission to customer.
Log and manage T&C anomalies.
Maintain and update configuration status for on-site installed devices on a weekly basis.
Provide a weekly sub-system T&C progress report based on Key Process Indicators.
Provide test logs and first level analysis to design team or sub-system experts during troubleshooting phases.
Set up a monitoring process of the installed sub-system to anticipate and detect potential failures.
Improve T&C productivity through application of processes and tools.

Qualifications

Key skills and requirements for the role include:-

Advanced level of technical education with appropriate diploma
Fluent in English (verbal and written), working knowledge of French would be a plus
Theoretical and practical skills in the area of at least one of the TIS sub-systems (SCADA, AVLS, Radio, Signalling, Telecoms)
Experience in sue of use of manual and software tools required for sub-system testing
Rigorous, open-minded with good inter-personal skills
Process and results oriented
Proactive in resolving technical problems
Good team player
Resistant to stress
Able to work night shifts and occasional weekends
Autonomous and flexible, able to work in a moving environment
Excellent customer relations skills
Proven experience in on-site work (commissioning, troubleshooting, installation and maintenance) on a significant project
Prior experience of working in railway environment
