TITLE: TIER 2 NETWORK OPERATIONS ENGINEER
TYPE: CONTRACT- 12 MONTHS
LOCATION: TUCKER, GA 30084
PAY: $35-38/HR

Our client is seeking a Tier 2 Network Operations Engineer for a 12 month contract position in Tucker, GA. The Tier 2Network Technician role will be responsible for tracking trouble tickets, troubleshooting and resolving routing and switching issues. This position is heavily involved in working with our clients customers so customer service is an especially critical skill set.

SR. NETWORK TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installs telecommunication systems equipment and services in accordance with communications plans, designs, and procedures including the required testing and quality control applications
Monitors operations of all systems' performance, and coordinates the response to failures and performance degradations. Supports required maintenance programs, operates network management systems, configuration management systems, and trouble ticketing systems in accordance with customer requirements. Meticulously documents all actions in appropriate systems and coordinates work with other technicians and engineers. Escalates issues as appropriate, both internally and externally, to obtain a prompt resolution to all network issues.
Communicates with team members and customers to keep all relevant persons updated on the status of all maintenance issues
Ensures that all company and industry standards and regulations are complied with at all times
Troubleshoot routing issues on networks using BGP and MPLS
Work with customer to correct provisioning issues on new circuits
Work with customer to resolve routing, switching issues on worldwide network
Track and respond to trouble tickets through the use of Remedy ticketing system
Track/respond to trouble tickets and follow-up on all service affecting reports
Coordinate with access providers to arrange field tech dispatch to customer site
Coordinate conference calls with customers, access providers, and central office personnel
Work along with local telecom vendor to resolve network outages in a timely manner
Update local contacts with necessary information and follow up on issues to insure proper repair and closure

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

MOST IMPORTANT - CISCO EQUIPMENT, BGP/OSPF ROUTING PROTOCOLS, ZONE ROUTING PROTOCOL FOR 900 REMOTE SITES, FIREWALL (JUNIPER AND CISCO). LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH ABILITY TO GROW TO TIER 3.

3-5 years of experience in wide area networking including the configuration of Switches, Routers, Firewalls, network management systems, remote access Servers, Switches from various manufacturers and other telecommunications equipment.
Solid understanding of Routers, Switches, Firewalls, wireshark (or equivalent packet analysis tool), network management systems, trouble ticketing systems.
Understanding of SCADA communication protocols is desired but not mandatory.
Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal communication skills, and work habits.
Hands on knowledge of network monitoring and management tools, including Netcool
Experience testing circuits from subrate to T3 levels
Experience troubleshooting gigabit Ethernet circuits
Experience with FrameRelay and MPLS
Excellent Customer Service
