Thermal Engineer

Thermal Engineer opening with a client located in the Indianapolis, IN area. This is a long term contract position that will be responsible to performs detailed finite element heat transfer analyses on air-cooled turbine airfoils and turbine structural components, including rotors and casings. Local candidates or those able to self relocate preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform detailed finite element heat transfer analyses on air-cooled turbine airfoils and turbine structural components, including rotors and casings
- Run analyses both in two and three dimensions both at steady state and transiently
- Coordinate work with interfacing aerodynamic, fluid system, design, and project engineers
- Planning, monitoring, and inspection of instrumented hardware (pre and post-test)
- Thermal model validation as well as preparing and delivering thermal analysis results in formal and informal design reviews
- Providing direction in diagnosis of thermal related engine and/or component problems
- Identifying and/or developing new and better approaches to the thermal analysis process

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Approximately 5 or more years of experience in mechanical design with gas turbine engines or a similar high tech industry
- Demonstrated experience in finite element heat transfer analyses
